RotoZip bit sizes chart (Zip Bit, X-Bit, collet sizes)
Spiral saw bits are sold under two names that hide three shanks. RotoZip's own catalog splits its line into Zip Bits at 1/8 in and X-Bits at 5/32 in, then quietly adds 1/4 in specialty bits at the top [14][16]. The manuals tell you to match the collet to the shank: 1/8, 5/32, or 1/4 [14][15]. Nothing on the retail box says which collet your tool actually has, and that is how the most common mistake happens: a pack of 5/32 X-Bits bought for a tool whose collets are 1/8 and 1/4. This chart lists every current RotoZip bit line by diameter, shank, and material, then maps the collet ladder tool by tool, using only the manufacturer's own spec pages and manuals plus dealer corroboration for every row.
The collet ladder: 1/8, 5/32, 1/4
Three shank diameters run through the whole line, and the manuals are explicit that each needs its own collet: the 1/8 in collet is used with 1/8 in bits, the 1/4 in collet with 1/4 in bits, and the 5/32 in collet with 5/32 in bits [14]. The keyless models (RZ5, RZ10, RZ20) take 1/8 in (0.125), 1/4 in (0.250), or 5/32 in (0.156) shanks, with a wrench sometimes needed to secure 1/4 and 5/32 bits in the keyless chuck [15]. If your tool did not come with all three, the CN1 kit sells the 1/8, 5/32, and 1/4 collets plus nut, and RotoZip states it is intended for RotoZip spiral saws, fitting Zip Bits, XBits, and XCores [17].

That middle row is the buying trap, stated plainly. The four big competitor cut-out tools (DeWalt DW660, Makita 3706, Milwaukee 2627-20, Ryobi PCL540B) each ship exactly two collets, 1/8 and 1/4, per their own product pages [28][30][31][32]. RotoZip's CN1 replacement collets are stated for RotoZip tools [17], and we found no 5/32 collet listed by DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, or Ryobi for these tools. So an X-Bit purchase is a RotoZip-tool purchase unless you have verified a 5/32 collet solution; that sentence is the whole reason this page exists.

Specifications below are from RotoZip's own product pages (rotozip.com, operated by Robert Bosch Tool Corporation [34]), corroborated per row by dealer listings or RotoZip's dealer catalog [18]. Cut depth is the manufacturer's printed value; "not published" means neither the spec page nor the dealer catalog prints one.

Honest notes on that table. The XB-MP2's famous capacity claim, over 2,000 ft of cutting, is printed by RotoZip on the product page itself and repeated by Acme Tools and Home Depot; we found no test protocol published behind it, so treat it as a maker claim, which is how it is worded above [8][23]. One row we refused to print: a frequently repeated spec that Guidepoint bits run at a recommended 13,000 to 15,000 RPM for drywall could not be traced to any manufacturer source; RotoZip's own variable-speed language says only to match speed to cutter size and material, and the RZ1500's variable range is 15,000 to 30,000 RPM [16]. The single-speed tools all run faster than that band anyway: 30,000 RPM on the SS355 class and DW660, 32,000 on the Makita 3706, 28,000 on the Milwaukee and Ryobi cordless [28][30][31][32].
Guidepoint vs standard point: the real decision
Both GP and ZB are 1/8 in high-speed steel, 2.35 in overall, and drywall-only; the difference is the tip [1][2]. The GP's guidepoint is a non-cutting pilot that traces the outside of an outlet box or can light while the cutting edge, set back along the shank, opens the drywall; printed guidepoint cut depth is 3/4 in, and dealer spec sheets list a 3/4 in flute [1][20]. The ZB cuts at the tip: it plunges anywhere, cuts faster, is printed at 1 in cut depth, and is the bit for freehand openings where there is nothing to trace [2][21].
RotoZip's manuals add the setup rule that makes the geometry matter: set the depth guide about 1/8 in greater than material thickness, and for guide-point bits make sure the entire guide point tip extends 1/8 in beyond the material, while for standard point bits the fluted end of the bit must extend 1/8 in beyond [14][16]. In other words, the guidepoint's tip-to-cutting-edge offset is real and deliberate, but no manufacturer document we could find puts a millimeter figure on it; anyone quoting an exact 5 mm offset is reading a dealer blog, not RotoZip. On max depth: the standard ZB line is documented for material up to 1 in thick [2][21], which is the practical 1 in ceiling people associate with these tools; specialty lines print their own depths in the chart above.
Which tool runs which bits
The collet, not the brand, decides. Below is what each tool ships with, from the manufacturers' own pages, so the X-Bit question can be answered before checkout.

Three footnotes to that table. First, Bosch: there is no separately badged Bosch spiral saw to chart, because RotoZip is the Bosch group's spiral saw brand; rotozip.com is operated by Robert Bosch Tool Corporation, and RotoZip's manuals are hosted in Bosch's Dremel asset tree [34][14]. Second, Dremel: the 1/8 in (3.2 mm) shank is the standard Dremel collet size, and Dremel's own 561 multipurpose cutting bit is the same 1/8 in shank, 2.35 in overall format as a Zip Bit, so the 1/8 RotoZip lines fit mechanically; what a Dremel lacks is the 5/32 and 1/4 collets and the spiral saw's base guide and depth stop [33]. Third, the DW660's own accessory bits: DeWalt lists Pilot Point Tip Cut-Out Bits under model numbers DWAPP18010 and DWAPP53202 for the DW660 [28][29]; we print the numbers without translating them to diameters because DeWalt's page does not print the diameters, and the model names are the only spec.
Wall tile versus floor tile, once
The tile corner of this chart is where buyers burn bits. The carbide TC1 (1/8) and XB-TC1 (5/32) are wall tile bits: ceramic wall tile with soft glazing, cement board, stucco, plaster, and for the XB-TC1 marble, and RotoZip prints "not intended for use with floor tile" on both pages [5][9]. Floor tile, porcelain, slate, and granite need the diamond lines: XB-FT1 on the 1/8 shank or XB-FTC1 on the 1/4 shank, both rated for tile up to 1/2 in thick [16][26].
